Since graduating from Marquette University and joining Boyer & Corporon Wealth Management in 2007, Laura Carley has continued her pursuit of lifelong learning and competitive athletics.
For Laura, a Financial Planner with BCWM, the scholar-athlete combination has always been a winning formula, and continues to serve her well.
She has completed all the rigorous education, examination, experience and ethics requirements to become a Certified Financial Planner, so look for that CFP® designation behind her name soon.
Next up for Laura? Having passed the Level I Chartered Financial Analyst exam, she is preparing for the Level II CFA exam in June 2012. The CFA program, with a six-decade history of maintaining a rigorous focus on globally relevant investment knowledge, is considered the definitive standard by which to measure the competence, integrity, and dedication of serious investment professionals.
After qualifying for and passing the final exam, Level III, Laura will have achieved yet another scholarly and professional accomplishment – the CFA initials behind her name.
What about the athletic side of Laura’s life? How has this former Marquette University women’s soccer team goalkeeper and 2009 inductee into the Blue Valley Northwest Hall of Fame stayed active in her sport of choice?
Laura says most of her spare time is now dedicated to coaching soccer. She not only serves as the soccer coach for Notre Dame de Sion High School in Kansas City, Mo., but also provides goalkeeper coaching with Finesse Soccer, a personal soccer training service that helps prepare players for a higher level of competition.
But it’s not all soccer all the time. Laura says one of her biggest personal accomplishments was completing the Tough Mudder 10-mile obstacle course in Beaver Creek, Co. this summer. She also starts each day at 5 a.m. with a workout at Bootcamp Fitness KC. She says it is one of the best parts of her day.
And, somehow, she’s also found time to volunteer with several community organizations. As a member of Central Exchange, Laura serves on the membership expansion committee for this women’s professional networking organization. She’s also active on the Young Professionals of Overland Park steering committee, and as service chair for the Marquette University Alumni of Kansas City Club.
Then there is the opportunity to give back: Laura is a member of the Johnson County Giving Circle, and always finds time for her favorite charity, Operation Breakthrough, where she is a member of the Grapevine group.
