Laura Carley, a BCWM Wealth Advisor, has joined an elite group of individuals becoming a 2013 Level III Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Candidate. Upon completion of this final Level, Laura will officially hold a CFA designation, one of the most respected and recognized professional credentials in the global financial field.
The CFA Program, offered by the CFA Institute, follows a curriculum focusing on the fields of investment management; financial analysis of stocks, bonds and their derivative assets; and other global policies and practical analysis processes needed to excel in the industry.
In addition to possessing the required education and work experience requirements, a candidate must pass three extensive exams. For the first round of exams for 2012 (in June), a mere 38% of individuals passed the first Level exams, with 42% passing Level II and 52% passing Level III.
Laura, currently focused on financial planning is looking forward to growing her experience, her skill set, and utilizing the CFA designation to help Boyer & Corporon Wealth Management continue to grow and expand.
“I love working closely with clients and helping to implement their financial plans,” said Laura. “But I’m also looking forward to diving deeper into the analysis process – the ‘why’ of certain investment decisions – to continue to grow my skill set as an asset to the company.”
Since joining BCWM, Laura has been excited to be witness to the company’s growth and evolution, and looks forward to being part of that growth.
“There are many seasoned professionals in this industry that don’t have a CFA designation and are very knowledgeable and successful. But, being that the investment industry is extremely global, having that designation is a form of communication about your skills internationally,” continued Laura. “Plus, as a female in a predominantly male industry, the CFA designation helps to level out the playing field.”
Laura is slated to take the final Level III exam in the summer of 2013. We wish her the best of luck!
